So I'm not a plumbing expert or softener specialist, but I purchased a Rainsoft Silver with the mechanical dials from someone locally (who included 3 systems). I installed the one I wanted to use, have it plugged and plumbed in. I had to replace the timer mechanism and the yoke with the bypass valves but once I did that it keeps time and doesn't leak. I have run through a regeneration cycle but the water came out EXTREMELY salty like worse than sea water.
I admit I don't know how to set the dosage / capacity setting nor do I have the 'block' salt, I purchased Morton's salt from Lowes. So my questions are three fold:
1) Can I get the RS Silver Series service manual from someone (not the owners, that's useless)?
2) Could the salt I'm using cause this drastic taste issue?
3) Could there be a mechanical issue with the system, perhaps a cleaning that can be done or a part swap I can try?
Thanks!
@muely2k1,
its called a web site. Rainsoft has one.
@bobsal u1553115,
Thanks for that... I just woke up from 1984. If their site had anything aside from sales material I wouldn't be asking questions.
@muely2k1,
The creek you are stuck on without a paddle is of your own making.
Website. Search engine. Type in "Rainsoft Silver Series Service Manual. You might try going to ebay. This is basic ****.
Unless ...... you don't need any info and this post is a gag.
