@hingehead,
I stayed more towards the station. But the big advantage in and around Nice is the extremely low fares for public transport: I did all my tours by bus there and along the coast/inland.

@Walter Hinteler,
Bloody hell walter- you didn't tell me their was an acsenseur! We got the elevator up. There was a big lefty fete happening. The French communist party had a stall as did a bunch of Palestinan support groups et al. Very civillised. Live music too. I'm sure a band was singing a song with the refrain 'purple dude' but my bad hearing (and eyesight) combined with a hyper pattern matching brain probably got it wrong.

Walked down though! Gobsmacked by how many restaurants are closed dimanche and lundi. Probably because they are family run not businesses. Great food so far. This has been a big trip for souvenirs, something we don't normally buy much of.

There was/is another fete, too, with quite a few bands

Well, sadly back home.

I found some videos other people took of things we saw in the places we've been.

One is the band Gig Street who are regulars in this corner of old Uzes at the Saturday markets.

Another was the whirling dervish performance on the Turkish side of Nicosia

We bought a CD for both acts (this one and Gig Street). I've ripped them and now I have to catalogue them. The Dervish one is clearly a compilation ripped from somewhere else - no track titles or credits at all. The Gig Street album (Bad Boys!) has got credits but isn't on http://www.discogs.com/ and doesn't even appear on their web site http://www.gigstreet.net so I have no idea about provenance, but at least I know they got the money (not so sure the song writers got any royalties Wink )

Spoken like a true librarian!

I'm becoming more interested in Uzes, possibly for 2017. Been looking at some rentals (hint!). I think you would need a car, though??

@margo,
I need to charge up my brain batteries and go look at a lot of Uzes photos.. and Nice photos, and so on.
Great thread, Hinge.
Glad you're home safe, of course. Do your pets still remember you? (kidding)
