Would adding the Windows SP3 service pack help to ward off any problems with XP after April? If I cannot afford to upgrade to Windows 7 immediately what might happen to my computer by keeping XP for longer.
Hope sks can help me,

They've all been talking about it at Bleeping Computer forum in this thread-
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/496246/end-of-support-for-windows-xp-sp3-is-april-8-2014/

and most are saying we should switch to Win 7 or 8 because XP will be easy meat for hackers when support ends.
I switched to Win 7 last week; i'd been planning to switch for ages anyway, and that was the clincher..Smile

@Romeo Fabulini,
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Wise suggestion Romeo.
I'm a pensioner and looking for the cheapest option to upgrade to Windows 7.

@clancam,
I'm a pensioner myself mate (65 yrs old) in England and my local computer shop charged me 85 GB pounds (142 US dollars) for Win7 and 45 GBP ( 75USD) labour charge making a total of 130 GBP (217 USD).
It works ok but I'm having to re-set all the little prefs and things to make the picture look as I want it!

@Romeo Fabulini,
Hi Romeo, Wish I was 65 again. I've been quoted Aus$130 for win7 plus Aus$80 per hour to instal.
Plus cost for upgrading my RAM from 2Gb to 4. Approx. $500 total.
Is it possible to purchase and remotely load from Microsoft.

@clancam,
Beats me mate, I'm totally computer-illiterate, I hate computers and they hate me, so I have to put myself completely in the hands of the local computer shop to do everything for me.
At least they're a slick professional outfit and i've been dealing with them alright for years.
Also the Bleeping Computer forum is great for asking techy questions..Smile
