A man walks along a newly-built rainbow coloured tunnel in Zhengzhou, Henan province. The 400-metre-long tunnel is the first of this kind in China, local media reported.

@RexRed,
Never ceases to get old. The construction of it was an engineering feat - for its time.

@cicerone imposter,
My cousins' mother's brother was one of the construction guys, a long time ago.

That's the lady I used to call my hundred-year-old aunt.

A favorite pastime of mine, looking at the View From Your Window contest on The Dish blog, has actually passed, as Andrew Sullivan and crew shut down the blog this last week. But the archives are staying and I'm still looking at all those views of the world through windows that people took photos from. I'm on #156 of 232 photos..

This one, #156, that I looked at today, turned out to be taken from a hotel right near the Alhambra and the Generalife in Granada, Spain; it has a nifty wall as part of the hotel.. and I wanted to save it for my files. Hmmm, and this thread too. I've not noticed one built quite that way before.

The original view for people to identify was this one -

Re the search for the right window - how people were guessing -

Chinese workers are seen putting the finishing touches to a cantilever 'Skywalk' bridge in the Longgang scenic area in Yunyang county, southwest China's Chongqing municipality. The transparent structure, 2 355.6ft (718m) above the ground, has a cantilever extending to 87ft (26.64m), and is expected to open in May.

NYC’s City Hall Subway Station was first constructed over 100 years ago, a part of New York’s earliest underground transport network. It has been shut down and untouched since 1945.

@RexRed,
Burano, Venice, Italy

The island of Burano sits in the Venetian lagoon and like most of Venice it is run through by a system of canals but what really makes this small neighborhood stand out are the crazy colors each of the historic houses are painted in.

@Walter Hinteler,
Love it, Walter. Never been to those islands..

I'll admit to not being crazy about the color choices, playful as they are - it's more that I like the photo as a photo.

Burano is actually a group of four small islands linked together by a series of bridges, and held together even more solidly by their colorful painting trend. The eye-catching color scheme has been going on for decades and was even beginning to fade until recent years when the practice was reinstated in earnest. Now the houses pop with bright colors that almost look photoshopped as the homes are repainted every two years. Each house is painted a different color from its neighbors and in fact anyone that wants to paint their place needs to get approval from the local community government.
