@izzythepush,
That's the point where I took my suitcase down off the rack - and knew I was nearly home!

@izzythepush,
The cold! It turned colder at Durham, then froze over the Tyne!

@vonny,
Yes, I remember that.

I drive past this bridge, (not over it) when I go to see my parents. My son calls it the Troll Bridge because it's how he imagines the bridge from the 3 Billy Goats Gruff.

The John A Roebling Bridge in Cincinnati/Covington. This was the bridge John Roebling built to prove that the Brooklyn Bridge was possible. It is about one half the size of its larger twin, but it was the longest free span of any bridge in the world until the Brookly was completed.

The Roebling is now a pedestrian and cycling bridge that adds to the riverfront of both towns.

@RexRed,
It's the Geordie National Anthem, although Newcastle isn't a nation.

Column--The CN Tower. This over half a kilometer tall communications tower dwarfs Toronto. That bulge is an observation deck over 300 m straight up---and it has a glass floor.

@saab,
The SF Bay Bridge added a new extension between the East Bay and Treasure Island. I'm going to drive on that "new" bridge one of these days. When I was single and living in Berkeley, I was a frequent driver to San Francisco across that bridge, but that was in the early sixties.

@cicerone imposter,
I posted about it, CI. I'll be interested in your take, if you make it across.

@raprap,
I did that tower many decades ago, and even did a boat cruise to an island. I also remember a ballpark next to that tower.

My bucket list has some items left to fulfill. One of these items is to ride through the Moffet Tunnel in an open gondola car.

Newport Bridge - Middlesborough, UK
Built in 1934, this structure incorporates over 8000 tons of steel to become England's first vertical lifting bridge. Due to the change of usage upon the river, the mechanism is no longer raised. Constructed by Dorman Long, the same engineers responsible for the Tyne Bridge and Sydney Harbour Bridge.

@vonny,
The vertical lift span of the 14th Street Bridge (AKA Ohio Falls Bridge) over the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky. The bridge was built in 1868, the vertical lift section was built in 1918 to replace a swing span over the river channel. This span bridge is being used.

@saab,
Is that because it's a toll bridge?
