@vonny,
I often stroll with my dog round there, and feed the ducks in the park next door.

@Lordyaswas,
Lovely place - we often visit it in summer. They serve a decent meal in their cafe too!

@vonny,
Don't you go to the Fighting Cocks nearby?

Reputed to be the oldest pub in England, along with half a dozen others vying for the title.

If you also stroll down Fishpool Street, you'll not only see Snorbens as it was a few hundred years ago, but there's the Verulam Museum down at the end of the road (or certainly thereabouts). Loads of Roman stuff, including a very decorative lead coffin.

@Lordyaswas,
We've been to several pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the cathedral, but I can't remember one called the Fighting Cocks - we did go to a super one called The Cock - that had excellent food.

@vonny,
See the Cathedral? Down a bit and left a bit and you'll see the pub. Very Happy

@Lordyaswas,
Laughing with both of you, but egads, shingles on a vacation.

I admit to having had revenge from Moctezuma more than once (more specifically, first from the Deer Cafe in Guadalajara, I just 'knew' it was from there. Soon after I looked so nice and thin because I lost weight fast fast fast over a good part of a week, plus my hair looked good for a change, rare for a naturally curly person, in my view back then. So, sick as a dog, with good hair. I should show that photo one of these days. Second, those raw oysters at Mismaloya, another trip.
But, CI, shingles, big ouch.

I mean to add some wall photos but have been overcome by baseball statistics and need to recover.

@ossobuco,
I've had .....let me think now.....

Delhi belly.
The Malta "Dog".
and had to look after my sister once, when she came back from an exotic holiday with Bali belly.

On such occasions, members of our family find themselves sitting on the loo whist sympathetic siblings etc stroll past the door singing Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire"

"......and it burns burns burns...that ring of fire...."

@Lordyaswas,
I took a peek at the Verulamium Museum site, and found it to be an interesting venue for anyone visiting in that area (and Roman-Britain) - in addition to the Fighting Cock's Inn.

I just learned a new word - stepwall - here is a picture
This is in Abhaneri, India. It was constructed 800 CE. It has 3500 narrow steps and 13 stories and goes 100 feet into the ground.

The world's oldest railway tunnel, located in Fritchley near Crich, Derbyshire. The tunnel is connected to the Butterley Gangroad, a horse-operated railway built in 1793

@saab,
I have been fortunate to have traveled to India three times, and have most of the major sites, but I missed the Abhaneri one. India is a fascinating country with many architectural marvels that many do not know about or are attracted to the country because of their poverty.

During the 18th century, Paris Catacombs came into existence when local cemeteries didn’t offer any more room for more burials. The abandoned quarry proved a good alternative. Even though the Catacombs are not a beautiful part of the city, they are quite a tourist attraction. The reason is their historical significance

Leptis Magna is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was a prominent city of the Roman Empire. The ruins are at Al Khums, Libya, about 130 kms east of Tripoli.

Dreaming of the future--a 21st century megastructure--a while back Discovery Channel played with building a one mile diameter 1500 foot dome over Houston. It was meat by Texans with--well deserved ridicule. Houston is a bad choice.

But is a domed city really ridiculous--in light of the real potential for a world wide climate change is a domed city so outrageous--some of the ancient construction presented here--the groundwork of a domed city is already available, all you need is the dome.

And potentially what a place of refuge for the 1% away from the rabble, and the changing climate .
