OK wordsmyths, here's the tenth instalment, and I think it is the most fiendish yet!:
I'm looking for a 9-letter English word (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) which matches the following
Clues:
The letters 5, 2 & 8 (in that order) spell a UNIT of measure.
The letters 1, 7, 6 & 5 (in that order) spell a type of CURRENT.
The letters 9, 3, 4 & 5 (in that order) spell an ATTENDANT.
Notes:
Seven of the nine letters are different.
One of the nine letters is a vowel.
The correct word (and ALL sub-clue words) are found in Webster's Dictionary - 10th Edition.
Vowels here, are defined as: A, E, I, O and U.
Happy sleuthing.
Units of measure: mil, rod, cup
Current types: ACDC
Attendants: ???
Yep, fiendish! No charity on Xmas, eh?
units of measure: ton, mol, ell, amp, cor
current: flow, amps, eddy, ohms
attendant: syce, lady, aide, stew (short for stewardess)
Aha, one of the letters in the target word is a vowel. I bet it's #5. And, of course, a Y can be in a word, but it's not counted as a vowel in these games.
Hmmm, I think I've got it. Two y's.
GLYCERYLS
unit of measure: ell
current: gyre
attendant: syce
Mac, I bet you're right! Yay!
Congratulations, macsm!! Good Job!!
