Active when deactivated account

My account was closed by myself for about 6 months ago.
I opened the account today to download some of my pictures on the fb account.
What really shocked me was that allthough my account has been closed for all theese months I have recieved congratulations on my birthday and recieved several messages from various people When the account has been closed... HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?????? ANYONE???
