[answered]Why does the page get "wide"?

Sometimes when I get on here and go to a thread, the text of the thread is twice the width of the IE window, and I have to scroll all the way across the page to read the posts. Actually, this happens with Netscape too. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Why does this happen? Is there a way to fix this?

I, too, once asked the same question...apparently it's when someon posts a long link or strings letters together that are longer than the width of the window so it doesn't wordwrap.

If people who are posting long links post using the URL function and give a name to the link it won't happen.

Ie.

Jer pretty well summed it up. The system just doesn't add an automatic line break if you post something really long with no spaces in it.

There really isn't much you can do (unless you posted the offending line) except to wait for the thread to progress to the next page.

Yeah, but if it is YOUR thread that messed things up, you can edit the post, which will fix things.

In the future, the long urls will automatically be trimmed.

There will also be another solution implemented so that a long post won't make the thread itself wide, just the individual post.
