"You'll want all day tomorrow, I suppose?''

"If quite convenient, Sir.''

"It's not convenient, and it's not fair. If I was to stop half-a-crown for it, you'd think yourself ill-used, I'll be bound? And yet, you don't think me ill-used, when I pay a day's wages for no work.''

"But it's only once a year, Mr. Scrooge."

"A poor excuse for picking a man's pocket every twenty-fifth of December!''

MERRY MERRY HAPPY HAPPY ! ! !

And laying a finger aside of my nose
Into the sky on Air Ontario i rose . . .

Off to see Lovey and small hirsute friends, so i wish you all the best of holidays, and leave this thread for those who wish to offer their greetings and best wishes to Ablers and Abuzzards of Yore everywhere . . .

MERRY MERRY MERRY ONE AND ALL ! ! !

Lovey has made us bacon, eggs, fish and cheese-bread toast, and we are all, human and canine enjoying a very fine holiday morning. We exchanged gifts last evening, so Lovey has fine new toys to play with, and i've my new duds to wear . . .

DL: what is the antipodean translation of "Loki?"

By the way, when you've lived in Ireland as long as I have, then YOU ain't seen nothing yet! Cool

dlowan, would you know of any possible Oz-Based Indiginous Aboriginal "Other-Mythical Critter" with similar specific Oz-Focussed intent? Loki has lots of counterparts in Indo-European Mythology. Do you know if Oz might have a similar Fallen Angel/Rogue God myth of its own?

Hmmmmmm - Aboriginal myths would doubtless have mischief makers.... I am unsure of one off the top of my head - I can have a bit of a search when I get home, if you like - wagtails carry tales in some stories, for instance.
