Hi, newly joined.
Facebook confuses me sometimes.
I sent a message to someone who isn't my friend (no mutual friends) by clicking the Message button on their profile (I didn't click the option to pay for the message to be sent). Is there any way to know if they saw my message if I don't get a direct reply? I've just looked and the message I sent appears in the Inbox part of my Messages section (using my laptop). Does this mean anything?

If you click on the message you sent you will see a check mark below and it will say “Seen and the date they read the message”
@Lambert,
messages to non-friends go directly to the "Other" folder -- not the Inbox,
so they may not see it unless they are in the habit of checking it on occasion...
