I recently color stripped my hair over the weekend to get auburn color out (not bright red, just natural reddish brown). After stripping my hair twice (and hair was still in good condition after 2nd time thank goodness), it was a brassy blonde, so it was kind of light. I then dyed it with ion color brilliance light brown with 20 volume developer and it didn't come out light brown at all. The color it is now is darker than a medium brown, and it doesn't look too good. My question is, since I dyed it last night, could I go over it with 40 volume developer and lift the color any? Or am I just going to have to use 20 volume to hit the spots we missed? Ran out of hair dye since my hair is so thick :/
I was planning on getting it cut into a kind of short layered bob, and wanted to strip and dye it while my hair is still long, so I could get it into good healthy condition before cutting it.
I hate dark hair colors on me, since it looks so unnatural, so is there anything I can do besides color stripping again which isn't a option since I just did that twice before dying it?
@sweettxgirl,
Have you washed it since the dye job? You might want to try that, once or twice, before going back to stripping it, and see what the color looks like. I've found that usually some of the color intensity is toned down after a few washings after the initial dye job.

I once asked for a dye job in that little salon just behind the docks in Amsterdam.
I won't give you all the details, but it ended with me cowering in a corner whilst two local girls repeatedly pelted me with a numbered cube.
You could have mix it very lightly some times such products will be very harmful for hair too.
@sweettxgirl,
Before you use any more chemicals, try washing your hair with Johnson's baby shampoo, it tends to strip color out of hair, at least the excess. Hopefully that will help. But don't use the shampoo once you have reached the right color.
@sweettxgirl,
Color law is color does not lift color. Your better off to run a mild 10V-20v & bleach which is gentle & should work quick due to your chemical past without damage.
DO NOT USE 40v! this will most likely be damaging to the max. After a light lo volume stripping, when you color it again, let the desired color sit about 10 mins after mixing then apply. Of the 30min color process, the 1st 10 is for lift,the next 10 for deposit & the last for bonding to the cuticles layers.
