Everyone is asking the question the Bush administration has been unable to answer so far. I have a suggestion to end the suspense.
Turn over the government of Iraq over to Halliburton. Halliburton is already doing most of the work except for shooting Iraqi dissidents. We could sign a contract with Halliburton to pay what it is currently costing us and bring our troops home. Halliburton could hire all the private security forces it needs to get Iraq under control.
The Iraqis would be fighting a corporation instead of the United States and its dupes. After all, why would bin Laden want to continue his fight against a corporation instead of the U.S.? Halliburton could also hire all the Iraqis they want for the board of directors of subsidiary corporations for the areas controlled by Kurds, the Sunnis and the Shiites. This would separate Mosque from State and end all the religious strife.
Bush et al could claim the U.S. part of the war is over and he is a victory president. He could run a campaign based on cutting a good business deal and bringing our troops home. Then all the U.S. citizens who fervently believe in Bush can turn their attention to concentrate on the state of the U.S. economy. Who knows, maybe Halliburton can fix that, too.
While we're at it, we could disband the FBI and the CIA and turn their functions over to Halliburton, too. It certainly couldn't do as badly as the prior 9/11 agencies did.
Since we're on a roll here, why don't we just do away with the Constitution and let Halliburton run the country.
BBB
