That's either a very small JPG file or you forgot to embed the picture in your post. ((shrugs and walks off high-fiving self!))

Or you could just go to an actual reference site instead of quoting from the always useless and unreliable Wikipedia:
Quote:

con·sum·er·ism
[kuhn-soo-muh-riz-uhm]
noun
1. a modern movement for the protection of the consumer against useless, inferior, or dangerous products, misleading advertising, unfair pricing, etc.
2. the concept that an ever-expanding consumption of goods is advantageous to the economy.
3. the fact or practice of an increasing consumption of goods: a critic of American consumerism.

Well Able2Know is broken again. Besides the bump thing (new pages not always starting). Now our threads are not showing "views"(zero views) ... I just figured no one was interested in reading my foolishness anymore. Glad to know it is a site bump and not total and absolute disinterest.

As for my comment, "Anything wrong with this picture." I can't really think of the word I am looking for. Maybe I meant it "figurative" but I am also talking literally.

Maybe one's imagination of consumerism is better than had I included a photo.

I will attempt to nail down exactly what I mean in this thread I have so many things I want to say.

As for consumer protections, I don't think of that at all when I think of consumerism. Consumer protections are not consumerism. (In my humble opinion)

Here are some of the topics I want to cover here. And yes there will be many photos posted here. Some photos I plan to take myself.

The latest in the news concerning consumerism is:

Black Friday,

Air pollution
Hundreds of flights were delayed or cancelled on Friday in China's commercial hub of Shanghai as record levels of air pollution shrouded the city in smog, prompting authorities to issue the highest level of health warning.

Some of my own peeves...

Trucks, Suv's and cars with only one driver.

NO ONE carpools anymore. Gas should be rationed to promote carpools.

Littering: The city I live in just passed an ordinance allowing the use of marijuana yet the police department have informed the city they will not abide by the ordinance. The city a couple years ago also passed an ordinance that the local police can now charge smokers a 200 dollar fine for littering a cigarette butt. I would like to know how many people have to date been fined for this. My guess is the police refuse to enforce this ordinance. Who is running the city the police or the mayor?

Junk mail.
Many tons of junk mail ("free free free" printed all over it) that I don't even look at once I just stick it directly in the recycle bin. Why can't I opt out of this junk mail blight? I get so much junk mail in a digital age it is a shame. All the ink saved by just stopping junk mail we would no longer need Canadian tar sands and domestic oil production could begin to decline. We can add news papers to the list.

Children's school books. Children still carry 40 lbs of books to school.
These text books could be all fit on a single kindle... Why have they not been phased out? Why are millions of trees being cut down to make these books? The publishers are making too much money from these school books too stop pushing them.

Why am I still getting two telephone phone books every year left on my doorstep? I never use them even once. I have a pile of them now...

This unnecessary consumerism is ruining our environment, our air and our oceans are full of dead birds with cigarette butts lodged in their throats...
