While US military formally ended occupation of Iraq the largest oil companies are still alive and kicking there! ExxonMobil, BP, Emerson and Shell still remain there. It's plain clear they are dominant in Iraqi energy sector. Iraq's supergiant Rumaila oil field as being developed by BP, and the other huge reserve Majnoon oil field is being developed by Royal Dutch Shell.
According to US Energy Information Administration, Iraq's oil reserves of 112 billion barrel rank second in the world after Saudi Arabia. That's the clue! Americans started that bloody war on Iraq with one aim only, to establish western control over its vast energy reserves!! All those words relating democracy and human rights are just blinders! Only spring chicks may see it differently!
Prior to 2003 invasion American and other western oil companies were completely shut out of Iraq's oil market. To be more exact, they were forced out of the country in 1973. Now they are back due to American military invasion.
Actually, western companies are robbing Iraq and its people. A prominent international oil consultant Dr. Abdulhay Yahya Zalloum points to "evident lack of transparency and clarity of vision regarding the legal issues" of western oil companies activities in Iraq. In USA they call this "mutually beneficial cooperation" and are moving farther to make largely privatized the Iraq's oil market! The robbery of Iraq is going on and they just want to make it legal this way by pushing a new OIL Law!
You see, I also can't exclude Americans may do the same thing in Saudi Arabia one day! The Saudi guys shouldn't rely on alliance relationship with the USA. Profit is of greater importance for Yankees.
