Facebook security

Me and my friend share a laptop. We both have facebook accounts, which we use in different browsers so we can both stay logged in. I once accidentally landed on his facebook page when using his browser and I discovered that even when he was logged in, most of the information on his page was unavailable. There was no news feed. I couldn't open any page. Also his pictures on his profile were unavailable or any other post to see on his wall. How did he make it? Is there any trick? He also uses facebook on mobile.
