@vonny,
That's not the studio version and radio programmers chopped the song in half

An elderly friend of the family and I were discussing oldies rock - Jerry Lee Lewis. I told her Great Balls of Fire had to be his biggest record. "No it wasn't," she said with the finality of doom. "It was Splish Splash." I knew to clam up.

This was a hit in 1957, by Hank Locklin. Incredibly, i couldn't find a vid of Hank singing this song, so this the Don Cherry version.

Another big hit in 1957 was "Fascination," sung by Jane Morgan (and so many, many others). The music dates back to 1904, and it was given lyrics and turned into a popular song in 1932. It has featured in many, many motion pictures, too.

When the "prophets of rock" hit the scene 60 years ago in the mid-1950's (Elvis, Jerry Lee, Chuck. Little Richard etc), their message to kids was - don't be like your stuffy parents and teachers, be cool and hip..Smile

For some strange reason, this song always brought tears to my eyes. Don't know whether it was the subject matter, or the singer's silky voice. I found myself misting up when I listened to this song on youtube just now. Egads, 54 years later, and this song still turns me to mush.

Connie Francis was raped in a motel where she was staying while she was performing at the Westbury Music Fair on Long Island. That attack caused many years of emotional illness.
