What if there is another universe where Setanta has Foofie as a sock puppet?

You're right of course. Takes more than food stamps to make a good scientist.
It also takes a good,intelligent mother with the common sense to have married a good man with good genes.

@Miller,
You know, if you keep up this talking to yourself as though you were talking to someone else, you'll eventually lose the all too tenuous grip on reality you currently have.

Miller and Foofie seem to be arguing for different points. How does that make them sock puppet and puppeteer?

It takes more than that to make a Jonas Salk.

To research cures rather expensive treatments you need a sense of the common good.

@MontereyJack,
You need to know the history. At Abuzz, Miller was Dr. KaK,and was universally despised. That's because she is racist, and a Jewish bigot who considers everyone else to be inferior to Jews. When she came here, she wanted to cultivate an image of gravitas, an image of intelligence and reasoned debate. (An ugly joke if you follow her posting history carefully.) But she really hates Democrats and blacks. When Deval Patrick was elected to succeed Romney as governor of Massachusetts, she just about had a cow. The Foofie sock puppet was created in mid-2007, after Patrick had been elected, and Miller has been using Foofie ever since then to express her more outrageous and bigoted opinions. Foofie is an outrageous stereotype of a bigoted Jew, and gets to say all the things that Miller (formerly Dr. KaK) wants to say, but can't if she intends to maintain her phony image. They don't actually disagree, it's just that Foofie gets to say more outrageous things. Miller disdains blacks and the Irish. Foofie says hateful things about them.

In a thread in which Miller was engaged, Miller made a statement about Social Security, and, when questioeds, Fooffie responded. Challenged on why she had answered, Foofie said that she knows how Miller thinks. Then Foofie denied knowing who Miller is--even though Foofie had just said that she knows how Miller thinks. Suddenly, Foofie knew that Miller lives in Boston (or the Boston area), and works in the health care field. Then Foofie suddenly knew the specific Jewish, ethnic origin from which Miller derives, while claiming to derive herself from a different Jewish ethnic group. It was not at all a convincing performance, and Foofie continually contradicted herself. Look closely--they don't disagree, it's just a difference of degree in how they express themselves. Foofie is Miller's sock puppet.

Of all the scientists I know and have known over my career, I can say that not a single one of them thought of the "common good" when it comes to research. The grant applications that we submit to the NIH never, ever mention"common good".

The goal in basic research today is to receive more and more grant money and to publish, publish and then publish some more.

No mention of"common good in any Chemistry or Molecular Biology Journals.

Although Foofie and Miller are both Jewish, they are distinct individuals. Why they are called sock puppets, is unknown to me.

Then what would you suggest we do with the ghastly underclass, O wise one?

Tell them the truth. The capitalist system is what they have to learn how to utilize through risking capital, or becoming valuable to a capitalist organization through education. Explain most politely that irrascible behavior will only make problems for them. And, most importantly they need to understand that they are an underclass, and just because the popular culture utilizes their interests, does not mean they are really the movers and shakers in society. In effect, teach them what a few semesters of sociology would teach.

Oh yes, also explain that their fragile ego and their alienation from society are their biggest hindrances. The first step to upward mobility is accepting that they need improvement and those they are alienated from must become their role models.

The truth will set them free.

Correct. Setanta has this odd belief. I hope other U.S. expatriates do not suffer from thinking two people are really one; otherwise, it could be a new mental state that should have been on the DSM-V (EDS - Expatriate Delusional Syndrome)?

Foofie is just a buff of social history, and recognizes that if the U.S. was a Catholic country, in his opinion, there would be a lessened society for Jews to participate in, since it is Foofie's contention that only because the U.S. is still a white Protestant country can Jews participate fully in the society. Catholic Europe was the author of European anti-Semitism, and effectively disenfranchised Jews from the public sphere. Foofie believes that many Catholics are aware of the fact that the real power in the U.S. is Protestantism, but subtley (or perhaps duplicitously) would like to promulgate a popular culture that installs Catholic "values" (aka, socialism for the poor), and at some future time make this a Catholic country in all but name. (Including lessening the military strength of the U.S. military, so the world can live "in peace".) That is Foofie's belief, and he believes that there are a few "fellow travelers" of this goal. Not all are Catholic, in his opinion. Some are ultra-liberals of all persuasians, some are gay, some are rebellious WASP's, and naturally, some are of the group that built up the Catholic Church in the U.S., all in his opinion of course.

Now many would say Foofie is paranoid; however, if Catholicism is such a correct form of Christianity, why haven't Protestants gone back to the "mother Church" in the last 500 years? Ah, because the Protestant Jesus is so different than the Catholic Jesus. The Catholic Jesus is the Jesus of the New Testament, all forgiving and all loving, and one can "earn" one's Salvation through Good Works. The Protestant Jesus is a pissed off anti-Roman zealot that understands that the converted Romans are the same dumb Goyim they were as pagans, and one need's the Spirit in one's heart for Salvation, in Foofie's opinion.

Foofie is of Ashkenazi extraction (aka, grandparents from 19th century Czarist Russia). Miller might be Sephardic? Foofie is not sure.

Foofie has also been downwardly mobile. Miller is perhaps upwardly mobile.

P.S. This idiosyncratic behavior of Foofie to talk in the third person might be what got Setanta to think of him as a sock puppet? I am guessing that Setanta met few Foofie's in his life. He was born in the Bronx. Foofie was born in Morningside Heights, not far from where George Carlin grew up.

@Foofie,
What surprised me is the intensity of hatred apparently felt by Canadians toward Americans. Yet, they come to the US as tourists, or medical patients and some even apply for US citizenship.

Dear Ms Foofie Miller, you are one seriously odd person.
