I don't know a lot about STDs, including AIDS, but I'd have thought that taking sensible precautions like not rushing into a sexual relationship until you get to know somebody a little better, and using condoms - practicing safe sex generally - would be much the same for a gay person as a heterosexual person?
One night stands, in this day and age, with so many sexually transmitted diseases around, aren't a good idea - no matter how attracted you are to another person. But nor is asking them to rush down to a doctor to test for AIDS - I can imagine that would rather pour cold water on any budding relationship!
Nor is being promiscuous the answer - not unless you want to risk your mental and physical good health. All you can do is try to pick decent guys to date - then if things get serious, discuss the AIDS fear with them, and see if they have similar concerns. It's amazing how the right person comes along when you least expect it - don't give up hoping!
