Help! no sound coming from speakers of stereo!!

my phillips fw-c255 mini hi-fi system appears to be playing but no sound comes from the speakers despite changing volume and trying a diffrent set of speakers?? please help!

* and right when i unplug it, you can hear the last bit of whatevers playing on the cdplayer?

Have you checked the connection from the amplifier to the speakers?

About a year ago, I went nuts when the sound on my computer refused to work. I went through all the tests, and checked EVERYTHING. Then I remembered that I had moved the computer case the evening before. I found that the audio connection to the computer had come slightly loose. It was still plugged in, but not tightly enough to make a solid connection!

Make sure you haven't inadvertently switched on the tape monitor. This gets me sometimes.
