600 U.S. Troops Killed in Iraq Operations
BAGHDAD, Iraq (April 4) - The American military death toll in Iraq rose to 600 Sunday with the report that two Marines had died in dangerous Anbar province.
The U.S. Department of Defense's Web site listed 598 deaths as of Friday.
Of the total, 410 members of the U.S. military died in hostile action and 190 died of other causes, including accidents and suicides.
The British military has reported 58 deaths; Italy, 17; Spain, eight; Bulgaria, five; Ukraine, three; Thailand, two; Denmark, Estonia and Poland each have reported one.
Since May 1, when President Bush declared an end to major combat, 460 U.S. soldiers have died - 299 as a result of hostile action and 161 of non-hostile causes.
Since the start of military operations, 2,988 U.S. service members have been injured as a result of hostile action, according to the Defense Department's figures as of Friday.
Civilians? They don't care!
