I have a very old antique chinese watercolor painting on what appears to be a very finely textured piece of parchment. It's been in my stepfather's family for years before he was born, he died 8 years ago at the age of 89.
It's difficult for me to describe any details regarding the techniques used by the artist but I will try to be as descriptive as possible. The detailed pen strokes depicting each image were applied very meticulously. The pastel colors seem to have been applied as a watercolor wash over the black pen strokes. In my opinion as a layman, it's a beautiful piece of art.
On the back of the painting is a hand written note, it reads: Chinese ancient painting - Natural scenery. The over-all size of the parchment measures 8 3/4 inches wide and 11 3/4 inches high. The image measures itself measures 7 inches wide and 9 3/4 inches high.
I do not know whether or not the frame is original but it is definitely old. The frame measures 12 inches wide and 16 inches high. There is some simple detail on the front of the frame.
If I knew in detail how to attach photos of the painting along with my posting I would gladly include a few detailed photos.
I'm new to this so please bear with me. Thank You - A. Estrada
Hi and welcome. It'll be a lot easier if we can see the artwork. The way you need to do that is, it needs to be hosted somewhere. You cannot simply point to it on your own PC.
Imageshack and Photobucket both offer free image hosting services. I personally prefer Photobucket but it's a matter of taste. Follow the directions on whichever site you decide to use, come back, and post it as a reply to this topic. Thanks!
