New Question.......

I heard an interview on the radio the other day.... I think it was a repeat of an old interview.... the artist said that these lyrics had been written by his first wife, who was a photographer.... the lyrics are a description of one of her photos, which was hanging in a gallery.....

here's the lyrics......

Sitting on a park bench
eyeing little girls with bad intent.
Snot running down his nose
greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.
Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the frilly panties run.
Feeling like a dead duck
spitting out pieces of his broken luck.

Sun streaking cold
an old man wandering lonely.
Taking time
the only way he knows.
Leg hurting bad,
as he bends to pick a dog end
goes down to a bog to
warm his feet.

Feeling alone
the army's up the rode
salvation a la mode and
a cup of tea.
______, my friend
don't start away uneasy
you poor old sod
you see it's only me.

Do you still remember
December's foggy freeze
when the ice that
clings on to your beard is
screaming agony.
And you snatch your rattling last breaths
with deep-sea diver sounds,
and the flowers bloom like
madness in the spring

Wrong, p&l. Johnny Western sang the Ballad of Palladin. Johnny Cash sang
Johnny Yuma was a rebel
He rode through the west
Johnny Yuma the rebel
He wandered alone
He got fightin mad this rebel lad
He was panther quick and leather tough
When he figured he'd been pushed enough
The rebel
Johnny Yuma

I joined the Navy to see the world
But nowhere could I find
A girl as sweet as -----
The girl I left behind

Who sang it and what's the title?

New Question.....

(this song was written by a 60's folk singer.... was recorded by him and Rosalie Sorrels, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Kate Wolf... I took these lyrics from the Kate Wolf recording...)

Come gather all around me friends
Tell to you about the ministrel band
Children in their witches hats
Painting pictures with the pipes of Pan.

A young boy and his sister
Played some tunes upon a whistle made of tin
Led me through a flower garden
Laughing at the postman's stubby chin.

In my dizzy stupor
I was trying hard to forfeit all I know
And listen to that music that could
Swirl me in a magic all its own.

Somewhere in the distance
You and I have fought the monster to a draw
In those days of books and wine
'And Fern and Getty' grasping for a straw

Now along the highway
Journeyed far to find the mystic smile
While searchin' down identities
My God we must have run a million miles.

Sing to us you children
Tinklebells and rhyme the purple green and blue
And think of us as fighting fools
Who wintered through the seasons loving you.

We can teach you nothing
But survival in a desert bare
You can teach us how to live
And love and tie bright ribbons in our hair.

Sing to us you children
Tinklebells and rhyme the purple green and blue
And think of us as fighting fools
Who wintered through the seasons loving you.

I didn't know the Beach Boys recorded Cindy O Cindy. The version I remember was from the late 50s by Eddie Fisher, father to Carrie Fisher.

Thunder, Thunder
Over Thunder Road!
Thunder was his engine
And White Lightning was his load
And there was moonshine moonshine
To quench the devil's thirst
The law they swore they'd get him
But the devil got him first

.... is the answer "Thunder Road"???

Hi edgar.....

that Paul Seibel song "Then Came The Children" is my current project.... I'm writing down the lyrics and trying to figure out the chords.... I can't quite get the beginning of the 4th line in the 4th verse.... I know what I typed isn't correct....

New Question.......

(this an old project... got the lyrics/chords by listening to the album.... But, I usually modify the song to be for me and my daughter, by changing 'girl' to 'boy', etc...)

here's the lyrics.......

It's not time to make a change
Just relax, take it easy
You're still young, that's your fault
There's so much you have to know
Find a girl, settle down
If you want you can marry
Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy

I was once like you are now
And I know that it's not easy
To be calm when you've found
Something going on
But take your time, think a lot
Think of everything you've got
For you will still be here tomorrow
But your dreams may not

Hi edgar.....

(I got the missing word for the lyrics for "Then Came The Children".... it's Ferlinghetti..... as in "Lawrence Ferlinghetti", the poet.... I posted a Lyrics Request Question at a different website discussion group, where folk musicians post messges.)

"Hey Bungalo Bill" was on the Beatles' "White Album"???

here's the lyrics.......

She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don't matter cause it's gone
While the sun is bright, or in the darkest night
No one knows, she comes and then she goes
