Sponsored Story: fan cost explodes!

I'm monitoring a sponsored story for a fansite. with the same target group settings the cost per fan first went down (to about 35 cents) and then after a week the cost per fan suddenly explodes (1 euro now!):

Any advice, insights, revelations about this topic?

Yes, they upgraded their fans. They went from:
