Speed reading and table completion

Recently I have been assigned the task of preparing a demonstration lesson on tips of table completion(or flowchart) in English exams for Senior high students [in China]. That keeps me thinking about the purpose of table completion in exams. After thinking for some time I plan to use table completion in exams to illustrate the tips of speed reading in English. I am not quite sure whether it is a suitable topic for this lesson. I hope some experts could offer me advice. Or could any native tell me in which situations will table or chart be particularly used in daily life ? Thx!
