@reasoning logic,
You can learn lots of thinks from books and google, but that is not the only form of knowing. I could research your life and write a biography about you without even knowing you personally. If a religion does not lead to a real connection with God, then it is just hot air.
But, you cannot pursue such a connection without some form of guidance.
Testimonies are important, but they can only point you in a direction so you can find out for yourself. And, bad and fake testimonies may end up leading us astray if you rely on them too much. In the end, we must take responsibility for our search.
I can testify that the Bible is true, Jesus is real and that true Christianity will lead you to the living God. When I believed, it began with considering the testimony of others, but it was only as I read the bible and cried out to the Lord, that He became real to me. We all have to find Him ourselves, but without directions we wont know where to look.
God has supplied the Bible to guide us in the right direction, but we have to be willing to take it seriously enough to act. Only those willing to follow the directions and find out for themself will get to the destination.
Jesus said, "My doctrine (teaching) in not Mine, but His (God the Father) who sent Me. IF anyone wills to do His will, he shall KNOW concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him. Did not Moses give you the law (Old Testament scriptures), yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill Me?" Gospel of John Chapter 7, verses 16-19
Jesus is either a Liar, a Lunatic or the Lord He claimed to be; but you will not find out the truth by sitting on the fence and calling believers names. C S Lewis (Narnia books) realized this and decided to find out for himself. His book Mere Christianity, is a helpful read.
It takes courage to get off the fence and begin walking according to His teaching without all the so-called proof that people seek. But the KNOWING you seek cannot be found without following His directions. If you are sincere, He will make Himself KNOWN. If you are not, you would not recognize Him anyway - just like those who killed Him.
If Jesus is truly the Savior of the world, who has risen from the dead, then He can make Himself KNOWN to you TODAY.
I can only point you in the right direction, and ask you to read Johns Gospel - which was written for those who wanted to truly KNOW the truth.
The question is Do you want to KNOW Him enough to read it and ask Him to reveal Himself to you?
You can take my testimony seriously enough to find out for yourself, or you can totally ignore my words and do something else. Whatever you do, you cannot now say that you did not KNOW where to go to find out the truth - and God will hold you accountable for that.
