i didnt write the lyrics

thats the reason i posted it Exclamation

this shows me that free speech is something that is sadly lacking here Evil or Very Mad

i will say no more... i dont wish to offend Rolling Eyes

this teaches me not to get involved in topics that people find offensive
its why i stick to light humour and strange news Shocked

I explained about the song's nature, and no personal attacks on Edgar or on nationalities were needed; that was what was offensive. Society can never improve on sweeping statements. Now let us get back to the issue of this post.

Almost 400 Mexican immigrant deaths reported

The Mexican foreign minister, Rosario Green, has announced that almost four-hundred Mexicans have died so far this year
while trying to cross illegally into the United States.

In a report to the Mexican senate, Mrs Green blamed the deaths on tough border measures introduced by the Americans,
which she said were forcing immigrants to take riskier routes through remote desert areas.

Many deaths are caused by heat exposure, hypothermia and dehydration; in other areas, immigrants have been known to
drown while trying to swim across the Rio Grande.

An estimated nine million Mexicans live in the United States, many of them illegally.

The issue has often led to tension between the two countries. Earlier this year, Mexico complained to Washington that
its citizens were coming under increasing attack by vigilante groups on the US side of the border.

well on a more lighter subject

i have a mexican friend called juan carlos
i met him in greece where he was working as a diving instructor for a greek friend of mine who owns a diving school funnily enough...
hes from cancun or near there anyway..
he was saying that america has pumped so much money into mexico over the last god knows how many years that they are the richest american country south of the USA and they themselves had a big immigrant problem from central and south america....
man its odd to me cos as far as i heard there was big unemployment in the usa anyway and its so expensive to live there in the usa compared to mexico that i cant see these people who take the risk to cross the border are ultimately doing themselves any favours...as far as i see the american dream is that..a dream and most americans have to work hard to make a living like the rest of the world if not harder....its just the rich people in america are really rich and they got hollywood to boost their image..hmm
its same here in uk... everyone it seems wants to come to england to be rich but really its very bad living here i see loads and loads of homeless people on the streets and massive drugs problems....
i just think this idea that if they come to the uk or the usa they will have a better standard of living is some kind of illusion...

I have lived around and worked with Mexicans my entire life, many illegal. I assure you, they can better themselves here. I did not want this to be a thread to argue immigration, as there are at least three or four such already. This is meant for a spot to explore their culture and history, their problems.

ok Smile
well juan carlos was into all the mayan stuff Smile
i find that part of their culture and history very interesting...
dont know much about the modern mexicans though...
i plan to visit there this or next year so maybe ill pick some vibes up then and learn something more of them and their culture Smile
maybe you can enlighten me/us some more Smile
its been interesting reading so far Wink
but i must say reading these posts paints a bad picture of the usa Sad to me it seems like they are responsible for most of modern mexicos economic and other woes... Evil or Very Mad

Our roots are intertwined; our big brother economy and meddling has a great impact on Mexico, much greater than we generally envision. Some for the better, some not. There is a great deal of selfishness in our dealings with such a nation.

Hoorah! Two of my best buddies have gotten together!

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Here's a song that says a lot:

Artist: Joni Mitchell Lyrics
Song: Both Sides Now Lyrics

Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere, i've looked at cloud that way.
But now they only block the sun, they rain and snow on everyone.
So many things i would have done but clouds got in my way.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now,
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions i recall.
I really don't know clouds at all.

Moons and junes and ferris wheels, the dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real; i've looked at love that way.
But now it's just another show. you leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know, don't give yourself away.

I've looked at love from both sides now,
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions i recall.
I really don't know love at all.

Tears and fears and feeling proud to say "i love you" right out loud,
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, i've looked at life that way.
But now old friends are acting strange, they shake their heads, they say
I've changed.
Something's lost but something's gained in living every day.

I've looked at life from both sides now,
From win and lose, and still somehow
It's life's illusions i recall.
I really don't know life at all.

And that song is also dedicated to Daytona Beach where it's raining like hell. Rolling Eyes
