@Sohrab,
Look up Feijoa sellowiana photos and see if they match. (Pineapple guava)

@ossobuco,
I think it is quite similar, but not the same plant from the photos I've quickly looked up.

@Sohrab,
I found another photo of what I believe is the same flower, but I still haven't been able to identify it by name yet.

However, it's clear that it's a flowering shrub of some type. It's a broadleaf plant with woody stems that produces a "burst" of white flowers on red "stalks".

Unfortunately the person who posted that image was also asking for an identification, and they never got one.

I agree with Timur, it's some type of Ixora, but I haven't been able to locate the precise hybrid.

It looks a bit like honeysuckle.

@izzythepush,
Your picture is honeysuckle. But the other plant is not. However, I don't know what the other plant is. Sorry. Reading to find out.

@izzythepush,
Lola's correct. We've got honeysuckle coming out the kazoo here in my backyard...and the plant pictured in the OP is not honeysuckle.

I love honeysuckle. Our yard smells great during the spring!

I came to the conclusion that it's an Ixora Coccinea, also Jungle flame, Flame of the woods and so on:

@timur,
Most of the Ixora pics I found were Red. The original picture seems to be of a White Blossom supported by a Red "stem" (or whatever that part of the flower is that supports the blossom).

However, I couldn't find any of that color combination by name. All I found was that other image I provided above.

The White Blossoms with the Red stems must be a hybrid Ixora or something. Anyway, I think you've narrowed it down pretty close.

@rosborne979,
Local conditions, location re the sun and age (the shrub seems old) can greatly influence the aspect of the plant.

But also Ixoras come in many colors:

@ehBeth,
Yes,the Odorata was the closest I found as well. But none of the photo's were a clear match (at least to me).
