Should women be allowed to have a position of power in The Church?
I like contraversy, and being yelled at, so I'll start this one out with a contraversial, and unsupported statement. No.
Why not?
Church is a bunch of people telling other people what they should do. Who would be better at such a task then a mother?
Touche. My new opinion is exactly the same as yours.
I think it's fine. Church leaders of both sexes I don't listen to. Have a hermaphrodite one. How about one with gills and a trunk? How about one with eight tits and a tongue like an anteater? Now that would be something I'd go to church for.
What is "the chruch". As a Quaker I am used to seeing women of power in the meeting for worship.
Women held positions of power in the Jesus Movement, suich as bishops, prior to the third century. In Islam, women were allowed authority until about 850.
Joanne- Howdy! Long time no see!
I think that women should have power anywhere that they damn please!
Hey Phoenix it is good to be back on-line again. And I agree with you about women but you already knew that.
American Indian church is mainly comprised of a spiritual gathering. No-one is there to brag about how many Bible verses they know, there are no fancy projectors making large biblical text images in a wall, and no special guest from another country to verify everyones authenticity. The meeting is about people and everyone is afforded the opportunity to speak out about their life or the lives of their friends and family.
Quite often the gathering is conducted by a female.
I'll ask my minister and see what she has to say...
I don't see a problem with women in the Church, especially if they are good pole dancers. That really livens up a sermon.
I advance the idea that ONLY women should have positions of power in the church as well as the right to vote. It's overly cumbersome for us men to have to go to the damn sunday meetings as well as get out and vote when we could be doing important men stuff like holding down the sofa during football games, helping beer manufacturers and golf.
Wimmins do love that old-timey religion...
Seems to me that it's an issue for each religion/sect/church to decide for themselves.
Dys your response is perfect I would only add that men should pay testosterone tax to support all the prisons since they are the main inhabitants. Of course they would not be allowed the ministry of women.
Yes. We had a woman minister marry us and she was wonderful. Also, part of being a minister is ministering to people. Women in general seem to have the empathy and nurturing that comes natural. I think these are great qualities in a minister.
power is a bad word - I like authority
Toronto actually has a Pope Joan, but it's a lesbian bar, not a real Pope.
