deb... I'm quite sure I don't want to see what's in the bottom of the vase at your place.

wowsa, solike, what about if one brings a hostess flowers for a dinner-party?

I'm concerned this might mean a desire for group sex. Then again, a bottle of wine as a hostess gift might make that a bit more possible.

WHERE THE HECK IS SLAPPY WHEN YOU NEED HIM???!!!??!?

I'm a female and have been in this place since the end of 1964 when I was 14 (and therefore couldn't stay in England on my own).

I have NEVER .... EVER heard such a load of codswallop in those long, long 39+ years. Where on Earth did that program about dating get that from? I've heard some stupidly inaccurate things over the years - and this one is right up there with them! Rolling Eyes

I'm sure most females here would be very pleased, honoured and probably surprised to receive flowers from a guy. There wouldn't be anything to see as an ulterior motive for the flowers. If the guy was Australian I'd expect the female to be even more shocked. Aust males aren't generally known for their sensitivity or thoughtfulness towards women. Their concerns are mostly for their mates, cars, beer and sport.

Also - if a fellow asks you for a date, isn't it already likely that he wants to sleep with you? I thought that was more or less a given? Doesn't mean he's gonna!

That's a much more 'expected' thing. He takes you on a date, meaning he spends money on you, so SOME guys would expect repayment later, in bed, for the money they've forked out on you. Those kind are best NOT invited in and not dated again! Smile

The floral contract.

I have a couple of men friends who rate the woman - relationship worthy, depending on what she does with the flowers. If she gets a vase and some water - she's a keeper. If she tossed the flowers to the side, well she is still good enough for sex but not a relationship.
How common is this idea amoung men?

What if she eats the whole thing in one dainty, little bite?

Surprisingly enough, I often speak a great deal of sense - sort of in the interstices.

Interstices, haven't heard that in a bit.

To speak interstitially is to whisper between the lines..

Correct me if I read you wrong, wabbot.

We don't give flowers because Australian women are too screwed up to accept them without thinking there's some ulterior motive to the action.

Wilso, are you really that bitter about Australian women?

Cuz you know they're no different than women anywhere else in the world. Some nice, some not so - just like men.

and you know, that if you're out there looking for love with that way of expressing yourself, well, it's likely not going to go very well.
