Why does my Rainsoft softener not give soft water?

I received my brand new Rainsoft head unit and brine tank tube assembly. Very nice Smile Looking forward to installing it on the existing resin tank.

@jberenyi,
I know it's a little late , but in looking at the pictures, shouldn't the brine line from the brine tank be attached to the top connector?
