Water Softener and Copper Pipes

I recently went out of town. Prior to leaving, I shut off my main water supply to my home to avoid any issues if something happened while away.

When I did this, I forgot to set my water softener to VAC mode. Water softener cycled on the Thursday evening prior to returning home the next afternoon.

Issue: Water was very salty when I first turned on the supply. I suspect the brine was introduced into the piping system. I have flushed the pipes to all fawcets, showers, and toilets.

When flushing one of the fawcets, I noticed a little sediment come out of the faucet. It disipated in a few seconds. Since this happened, my wife thinks the water still tastes funny.

I am wondering if I have done any damage to my pipes, or if it is just residiual taste from salt and will go away.

Regards
