I thought Mary was 13 when she gave birth.
In the UK we are trying to cut down teenage pregnancies and yet there is something in the air saying 'live your life by the Bible','be pure' and yet apparently a virgin was impregnated by an 'angel'(angel?not sure about that bit as i dont know the story properly)

You say Mary was 30+ when she gave birth.How old is old?I read a bit of the Bible when I was younger and the characters in that lived into their hundreds!!

The miracle birth of Jesus to Mary is confirmed in the final and last testament that is still here today.Intact the same scripture that ws revealed to the comforter Jesus said will come to tell the truth concerning God,that he will speak of him (Jesus that is!) and that it will remain with man forever! The Quran confirms the miracle birth of Christ,who mary concieved between the age of 12-14 years of age. She did not have any children before that and did marry Jospeh and have James,who was the son of Joseph.

Actually James is not Mary's son. There are only 2 James mentioned in the NT and they are not Mary's son's. IF Mary had other children (and I don't know what religion you are, but Catholics - which I am not (but happen to agree with them on some of this) - believe Mary never had relations with Joseph and she never had any other children - she was a forever virgin. The brothers Jesus spoke of were brothers in christ or cousins. If Jesus did actually mean them to be brothers as they are called in the NT, the only other way besides the 2 I meantioned above is that He could only mean them as step-brothers (scholars believe Joseph to actually be a widow who possibly had children of his own, one of which could be James).

I asked the quistion but no it does not arouse my curiosity. The Bible says Mary was a virgin and that is enough for me. I came up in Sunday School but it is not important.. If it were the Bible would have told us. I do know that girls did get married between 12 and 14.

Just a thought on whether Mary remained a virgin.... Mark 6:3 says: "Where did this man [Jesus that is] get these things?" they asked. "What's this wisdom that has been given him, that he even does miracles! 3Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph,[a] Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him.
How could he have had brothers and sisters if His mother remained a virgin? or are they all immaculate conceptions?

In many places around the world it is common for girls around age 12 to 13 to be married off to a man 2 1/2 to 3 times the girls age. Until the late 1800's it was legal and normal for young teen girls all over the world to be having sex, even in the US. In some US states you can still marry and consummate your marriage at a very early age. So apparently morality, ethics, and the definition of pedophile are solely dependent on the state or country you live in.

It's funny that here in America the self-righteous religious zealots will call a man a child predator, pedophile, or whatever, but their Lord knocked up (or CAUSED to be knocked up, for you smart *ss technicality types) a young girl, and that is considered to be okay. They rationalize it by making the assumption that people didn't live as long back then or other BULL they cannot back up, so it must be okay. "The world was a different place back then"...BULL! People are people no matter where or when you go in the world. I have traveled around the world and can attest that people are basically the same everywhere. People were doing the same things thousands of years ago that they still do today. There was corruption, murder, scandal, sex, rape, homosexuality, love, hate, light, dark, and on and on it goes.

And if your GOD didn't want girls having sex until they were older than 16 or 18 or any other random number that man wants to generate, then why did he make them able to give birth at such a young age?

And on a similar rant, why can a woman look at a young boy or even a teen boy and say something like "wow, I would just eat him up" and it's okay, but if a man were to say something like that, about a boy or girl he would be beaten to death, or ostracized by the community?

Don't say that women don't act on those thoughts like men, because I had women in their 30's and 40's sleeping or at least trying to sleep with me as early as 14 years old and it got real frequent when I was 16 and 17. So women are definitely pedophiles, the difference is that people don't care so much when it's a boy as they do when it's a girl.

Also, I have to throw this one out for all the self-righteous people out there who will likely read this cuz I like knowing it nearly gives them a heart attack...if God created Adam and made Eve from Adam, and they made their children and eventually populated the earth...that means that the only way we can be here today is if they practiced Incest.

The brothers and sisters were doing each other, or the kids were doing the parents or any combination of those things, but no matter how you slice it, if the Bible is true, we are all the result of incest!

In summation, according to virtually all religious text, Mary was a "kid" and the Gman, exploited her and caused her to give birth at an age that is morally reprehensible according to most Americans and virtually all religious folks.

And for all the religious people out there who like to judge others and who think they are better than other people around them...you should know that according to your own Bible, if there really is a place called Hell, you will all surely be burning there! After all, it is a SIN to be self-righteous and to pass judgement on others...burn baby burn, disco inferno, burn baby burn...hahaha

And for those unbelievably arrogant people driving around with the license plate frames that say "Jesus is on MY side"... again, they are burning in hell!

How arrogant must they be to believe that the Son of God himself, a supreme being, would be on anyone's side, let alone their side?

But wait, if it is wrong, immoral, a sin, and a crime to engage or cause a minor to be engaged in any act that may potentially end up in pregnancy or any type of sexual act, then God himself must be a sinner (and a criminal), and therefore must also go to hell, so maybe all those sinners will get to be united with him after all, only a bit farther SOUTH than they imagined. Unless God has one of those Exempt license plates on his golden chariot...

I have to weigh in on this subject. I think it is clear that Mary was a "minor" by our standards. I have not heard anyone say different. Also keep in mind that Joseph was clearly significantly older than Mary as he already had a career.
Remember the splinter/apostate group of the Mormon church that had their children abducted by the state? The rationale was that a young girl shouldn't be married (have sex with ) an adult man. And to "protect" these girls, children were abducted. Isn't it ironic that "good Christians" around the country piously supported this action. It seems they would be inclined to throw Joseph in jail and call him a pervert. But many of those same Christians will smoke while pregnant, violate many biblical teachings related to sexuality such as have premarital sex and so on.

Wow. I hate to agree with such a crass answer. This new thing about the magical age of eighteen is less than a hundred years old and has NO historical precedent. I work with a bunch of people who ostracized and maligned a man for asking out a 16-year-old. One of the self righteous women was smoking whole pregnant. The other often told of her slutty exploits with near strangers. But they were both self riteously condemning the man who DIDN'T HAVE SEX BUT ONLY ASKED OUT A 16-YEAR-OLD.

As far as the rest of your crass answer- try to show a little quoth when addressing the tender subject of religion.
