In the late fifties, I was stationed at Ben Guerier AFB in Morocco, and all my hutmates were country music fans. I heard it 24/7, and got "hooked" on it for a few years after that. I can listen to some today, but my favorites are jazz, classical, blues, and the others hits of that period - 40's, 50's and early 60's.
Yea, copper was in short supply, so the treasury used zinc. I think those copper ones have a pretty good value on them.

There is a thread about George Jones but not one to my liking. George was an amazing talent and an artist of the caliber of Hank Williams. From White Lightnin' to Don't Need No Rocking Chair, he never failed to deliver. He could have you in tears one minute, with a song like He Stopped Loving Her Today, and laughing the next with perhaps Hotter Than a Two Dollar Pistol. I will miss him.
Pardon me if it is a repeat but I checked as far as the first 3 pages and somehow didn't see this famous Kitty Wells (and almost everyone else in country music) song.
\For years, I thought that this Heartaches by the Number was the song called Crazy Arms. I just learned that they're 2 different songs, that many artists, like Ray Price, meld together in a medley.
This clip shows her truly effortless and pure singing style. In the reproduction of the (non-stereo) channels, the mix-down of the instrumentals totally eliminates some great work. Sadly, I couldn't find a better audio recording online done by her.
