Why total soft water amount lowered after recharge?

When the last recharge on our ECR 3502 happened, the total amount of soft water available went down about 300 gallons per the display. It has been at 1693 after each recharge since installed a month ago. This morning after the recharge it was at 1395 total available. Any ideas? Thanks.
