Cipro is commonly used for patients with allergies to other antibiotics.

According to the medical authors in the New England Journal of Medicine Cipro can and is used for the treatment of the most common forms of UTI.

In children: Cipro is to be used only for complicated UTS. In children, Cipro is NOT the drug of first choice.

In adults: Cipro is used in the treatment of UTS when caused by susceptible bacteria. If the patient has had chronic UTS, the identity and susceptibilty of the micro-organism will be know.

Note this pharmacology handbook is for humans.
Any dource book that states it is for animals should be considered to be
a Vet reference, not useful in the treatment of humans.
