Who are the spoilers now eh? "Return" from "sister" and a German word to follow that. I suspect FS of being of German origin. "racken" means retaliation so I suppose it is not bad for "return" but once foreign words come in where will it end?

And after Rebecca's stylish "weight" from "Newton" too. That was classy as was izzi's "winsor".

We are dealing with the awkward squad.

From sister---gossip. ( the etymology of gossip derives from an old English word for close relation.) It took me half an hour to find "gossip". When I first found A2K it was billed as "prestigious". Please don't traduce that claim.

This game requires effort. It's an attempt to fight dumbing down.

gossip.

@izzythepush,
budget-- the word bilge and the word budget derive from the same word for a pouch and, with Quantitative Easing being all the rage, the Treasury pouch gets more full of bilge than it already was when there was only funny-money to be considered.

@aidan,
toning. (fat clinics are where mutton dressed as lamb goes to get toning.)

@spendius,
gravity
(what inhibits the effects of toning exercises, despite lots of sweat and their best effort, in those who have reached the mutton-ous stage).

"Gravity" is disqualified under Rule 1. (See Spade's starter post).

"Ragged" is disqualified because it not only regularised an infraction of Rule 1 but it has no connection to "gravity" under Rule 2 (See Spade's approval of revision of rules). It was too easy.

"Edgeways" is disqualified because it is ridiculous in a disciplined and orderly game. It's as bad as a wide receiver getting the ball on his own 20, disappearing into the crowd, running along the corridor in back of the the second tier grandstand, sneaking through the spectators at the other end and hurling the ball into the ground in the opponent's end-zone doing a victory dance.

@spendius,
oilcan. (before toning using vigorous massage an oilcan is deployed to reduce the friction necessarily involved. The oil is the same as that used on squeaky door hinges but with a few drops of essence of rose added.)

@spendius,
I apologize - I guess I was posting too early before my counting skills had engaged:

for oilcan: (is that really one word? Yeah, never mind, I looked it up and I guess it passe?)

@aidan,
sunder. (the objective of decanting is to separate, to sunder.)

I think allowing hyphenated 6 letter constructions is valid because it gives more scope to the game and invalidating them seems curmudgeonly.
