Something strange is going on today and I don't know if it is my computer, or the site. I access A2K through the Home page. I click on "view posts since last visit". I leave the computer on all day, and check from time to time during the day.

In the past, when I was finished looking at what I wanted, I "X"ed out A2K (did not log out). When I returned, the "View posts since last visit" would only show those new posts that were created after I "X"ed A2K out.

Today something different is happening. Even if I "X" A2K out, when I return, all the posts are there. The only way that I can start "fresh" is to log out, and login again. Why is this happen

I never look at Visit posts since last visit, Phoenix... and when I click on a2k I land on the Forum index... so, I'm no help. I never log in - except recently I did when I was at a friend's house.

It just means the session is still active. It happens.

Hasn't happened to me. I did have an occurance of logging off the computer and seeing only two new posts after 30 minutes or so, and none older than three minutes.

Happens to me all the time.

Thing is, while I understand that this may bother people if they are not used to it, it's also true that there's nothing broken.

Same with the opposite. The sessions that end when the user doesn't want them to is a bigger pain for them, but is also not broken.

Let me put it this way. The way sessions work is based on several things.

In what you describe, nothing is broken and nothing is not working how it should. So while it may be new and perhaps even an inconvenience to you, it's also a bug report about normal behavior of the software.

It's not a flaw. It's a feature.

Laughing ...One of my favorite lines.

Actually, Craven is just trying to avoid typing a page full of technical information to explain why sometimes things on the Internet work like that.

Well, today when I first closed "X"ed out and returned, all the old posts were there. Subsequently, it appears to have gone back to "normal", whatever that is! Confused
