Should this photo be allowed in a yearbook?

Chai, she probably isn't a "slut".

jesus olga, I don't even know who she's talking about.

stop being so literal.

Yeah, the point is many of them would see anything wrong with it.....now.

That isn't the type of photo one would be proud of in the future, for many reasons.

Yes, that makes perfect sense to me, boomer.
Because most likely she's not mature enough to fully appreciate the implications of publishing that image of herself.
Whereas the adults in her life (who might have supported the publication of it) would, surely?

Um yeah olga, that's what I and others have been saying.

She's not mature enough to fully appreciate the implications.....

She more likely will someday, and regret it.

The picture shouldn't be published.

Last comment: I guess I have a problem with the use of the term "slut" to describe women (literally, humorously, whatever ...) & that's what I was reacting to as much as anything else.

They did say she could use the photo for her "senior ad" which, I assume, are the paid for pages at the back of the yearbook where kids can write a personal message.

"Senior ad, eh"? For an escort service, maybe.

I agree. It's a strange picture in many ways. The outfit is wierd, the pose looks forced and stiff. There is just nothing natural about it.

Is that supposed to be a school staircase she's on? If so, what's the implication of that? That it's a high school for wanna be sluts? Could that be a reason the photo was rejected? Because it's also implying something about the school? Or the way students dress in the school?

The girl just looks like she's screaming for attention, in all the wrong ways, by submitting that sort of photo. Is that really the way she wants to be remembered by her classmates?

I think she'd regret this picture later. It's too easy to ridicule. She's trying too hard to look sexually provocative, or the photographer tried too hard to get her to look that way. And she really doesn't look very relaxed or happy. I guess it was supposed to be a come hither look, but I think her facial expression looks a little frightened or apprehensive. The whole picture looks uneasy to me. It just doesn't work.

This is the photo that the girl submitted. It was rejected by the yearbook staff.

I think I agree with the yearbook staff.

I've shot gazillions of senior photos and the idea of shooting something like this was never on my radar.
(I never had someone request something like this for a school photo, either.)
I think parents would have been all up in my face if I had done so.

What do you think?
I think it just looks like a picture of a pretty girl, looking toward the camera.
If it had been up to me, I 'd have accepted it uneventfully.
I don 't see controversy in it.

I 'm reminded of a yearbook picture of a graduating girl
dressed in military fatigues, sitting on a US Army Abrams battletank.
She was thrown out of school because of the high school's zero tolerance of weapons.
She had joined the Army, but had not yet begun to serve.

Its entirely possible that thay r subjective.
Public school administrators have a way of FORGETING who really owns the schools.

Our HS has a detailed standard, and this pic would not be allowed. The problem is that we have a under aged (almost certainly) girl showing off her sexuality, and under the AOC citizens are not allowed to be sexual anymore. You noticed in this thread I am sure the knee jerk response from several that this girl must have been pushed into this sexual pose. It was almost certainly her idea, but we dont want to take our generally closed minds there, do we....But if it was her idea then of course it is claimed that she will regret it later, we say. This is how we comfort ourselves in the face of a young woman who wants to be seen as a sexual being.

For my high school yearbook, the teacher read off an address
and told the class to go there to be fotografed b4 a designated date.

I ignored it. I did not record the address.
I had no interest in having an image of me in the book.

I did not attend the graduation, either.

I did not want to go but my parents made me. I said that any damn fool could graduate from HS, so it was not worthy of the pomp and expense being devoted to celibate that I did.

You can imagine I am sure my horror that it is now common to do "graduations" from the 6th and 8th grades as well.

I think David that the placement of the knee clearly demonstrates that she has purposefully made herself ready to be fingered. This is so very not cool when she is not supposed to be sexual.

My parents thawt I shud go. I decided against it.
It was too hot in June (outdoors) n I did not give a damn
about the principal's opinions about anything,
that he woud express in his speech. He liked to brag about his school.
I 'd already heard him shoot off his mouth enuf.

I was not into celibacy, since an early age.

I attended THAT graduation,
in that the obsession of my LIFE, named Joyce,
was graduating and going to a different school.
I attended to be with her.

That did not occur to me.
It looks like she is walking up those stairs.
