I blame Roberta for this thread. She posted that she had a list of the most boring words she had ever read that she collected from a book she is editing. She wouldn't tell us but I think she implied she would add them to a thread. Eva said she would like a thread on boring words, too.
I'll start with ullage. To me it is a turgid word that makes me think of something heavy and boring swinging slowly from side to side in a nauseating manner.
@dlowan,
If was a glossary from the most boring book I ever edited. I assumed there would be lots of boring words. I was right.
But I wouldn't be able to make a list of them. The subject matter would be too apparent.
Sorry.
"responsibility"
Reminds me of Garrison Keillor's perfectly-named Catholic church in his fictional Lake Wobegon: "Our Lady of Perpetual Responsibility"...
@dlowan,
nice
It really has minimal meaning
@dlowan,

You're being too generous. It has virtually no meaning and can, in fact, mean the exact opposite of what you mean it to mean.
@Lustig Andrei,
I remember - barely - when nice wasn't a horrible word. An acceptance word.
Usage is the key.
Paradigm
It used to be the word to use when wanting to sound intellectual, but instead sounding pretentious.
