Ford's Theatre, citing errors, refuses to carry Bill O'Reilly's 'Killing Lincoln'
Ford's Theatre refuses to sell Bill O’Reilly’s book, 'Killing Lincoln,' the book one historian charges with 'mistakes in names, places, and events.'

Quote:
“Killing Lincoln” contains numerous factual errors and no documentation or footnotes, according to a study conducted by Rae Emerson, the deputy superintendent of Ford’s Theatre National Historic Site who recommended the book not be sold at Ford’s Theatre.

@tsarstepan,
Large numbers of fact errors in such a book?

Does not most publishers turn over such books to fact checkers before sending them to the printers?

Did he self pub????

Ah who cares right? His career has been about spreading lies, but I'm sure the book is fair and balanced fiction.

@BillRM,
It's Bill O'Reilly for pete's sake. He sells a lot of books. He probably has a clause that prohibits the publisher from editing or fact checking his books.

@tsarstepan,
Yer right. People with inflated egos like O'Reilly's get upset if a careful editor deletes or inserts so much as a comma in their ms. Facts? We don't need no steenkin' facts. As you said, it's Bill O'Reilly for pete's sake.

@Ceili,
I figure if I help prevent a single curious soul (someone who hasn't paid attention to politics, or hasn't taken a civics course, or read a newspaper, etc...) from picking up this book or any of Reilly's hatemongering propaganda books then I did my little part to help better democracy in America.

No basic facts checking would benefit neither O'Reilly or his publisher.

As far as lack of footnotes this is just a popular book for the unwashed tea party masses so that would be no big deal.

Little known fact - that bias exists in encyclopedias and science texts, as well...
