I'm certain I, not only had an avatar wot has now gone missing, but (and it would be contratictory to suggest otherwise) I'm sure I had the ability to put up an avatar.

Both are now MIA......or did I do summat wrong?

You can take any image from your own computer (if you're using Winders, it's best to put it in the "My Pictures" folder) which does not exceed 90 pixels by 100 pixels, and "upload" to your profile here. Good luck.

laptoploon - head on over to your own profile, and take a look there.

There is a gallery of avatars to select from there, or you can build your own as Setanta suggested.

Post back here if you're running into trouble. Lotsa helpful folk around.

Your ability to display an avatar was suspended because of the avatar you'd chosen to display (pornographic or "adult").

Do you know this for certain or is it a guess?

If the latter, no problem....if the former, how do you know this and yet no one thought to inform me?

Craven don't have to explain nothing - he is the boss and we love him.

I know this for certain. I removed it. I believe it was a full frontal nude shot of a woman but this is so frequent these days that I tend to forget.

The rules are posted and upon signing up each member agrees to them. Merely visiting the site constitutes acceptance of the terms of use. This is typical for an internet site.

Because this is a free site and all the people who run it are volunteers it is not economical to notify users of each action taken.

So just about any action will usually not be preceeded or accompanied by a communication. It's less personal than I'd like but so is my tech support these days. Time is not on my side.

In any case I will turn it back on, just please don't use nude or obscene pictures as your avatar. This is not a site restricted to adults.

Ah so you is one of the bosses. Shouldn't that be made clear?

But whatever, I merely used my usual avatar and in light of your respsonse I went and re-read the "rules of the road" and that only left me more confused as this isn't covered(sic).

laptop - saddened that nudity isn't considered asexual

Craven is as fair a moderator/webmaster as you'll find on the Internet, even if he doesn't tell you so.

Craven is actually just a fig-newton of our collective imagination, but i've not yet assembled all of the necessary proofs, so i've not yet been able to act upon it. But his day will come . . .

You know, yon Laptop's utterances, as to style at least, remind me eerily of mine own - I do wonder if I have apparated said Laptop - (though this apparition is possessed of knowledge I have not) - in some weird ectoplasmic fit, and hence laptop is the newton of whom you speak....

(No offence, Laptop! Just funning with ya...)

I was going to avoid this thread and let it die a natural death but events in the real world have forced my hand.

Helmut Newton has died in what is being reported as an inexplicable car crash.

Seems he sped out of the Chateau Marmont hotel and crashed into a wall.

Personally I think he must have read this thread, realised his life's work was a waste and decided to end it all.

In I Hate You -- Don't Leave Me! Jerold Kriesman and Hal Straus refer to Borderline Personality Disorder as "emotional hemophilia; [a borderline] lacks the clotting mechanism needed to moderate his spurts of feeling. Stimulate a passion, and the borderline emotionally bleeds to death."
