Why are tasers illegal?

If people can buy guns, why can't they buy tasers? Okay, in some states you can buy a taser, but most states have laws restricting them or at least regulating them to the point of a virtual ban. Guns can kill a person, tasers only incapacitate people for a minute or two. Why is it okay to have a gun but not a taser?

Tasers CAN kill people. The electric shock can stop some people's hearts and effectively give them a heart attack.

Okay, so they CAN kill people. Are they any more dangerous than guns? It doesn't seem to be that that is the case. If not, then why are they so much more criminalized than guns?

Exactly my thinking. No constitutional protection....

Guns are far more effective tools for killing while tasers are a better choice for decapacitating someone.

Now we wait for David's inevitable thread entrance....

I'd be a lot more scared of getting tasered than shot.

the good thing about guns, is they make a lot of noise.

other people are gonna know that a gun went off, and wonder what's up*

*(unless you are the unlucky victim of a professional assassin, or a crazy gun nut with a silencer)

some nut-job can taze you, and all that other folks will hear is your body floppin' around like a fish...

Perhaps you should learn statistics as well as fundamental biology before you make such blanket and wrong statements. If you are shot with a taser, you will likely survive it. Especially if you are healthy. But tasers CAN and DO kill
people.

These aren't conspiracy theories based accusations but actual reported in the

perhaps you should learn from someone who is trained and uses them? Oh, maybe it is better to lie and say they are illegal because I can go out and buy one?

According to a site that promotes tasers indicates that out of 50 states, they are legal in 43. Because clearly You Have Failed Math that means in 7 states these items are ILLEGAL. Ergo Kicky's question.

you shoot someone with an arrhythmia, or other heart weakness, you're looking at an MI. Even someone with a healthy heart, you disrupt the rhythm of their heart, they're in trouble.

You don't think some sick F*ck will keep the thing on you longer than necessary, repeatedly hit you with it?

Getting electrocuted is extremely scary, and dangerous. It does something mentally to you too.
