I have a rainsoft softener and recently upgraded to electronic vs. Mechanical box on top. Model ARC 75 CV 60HZ serial 528601 2003 system. I noted my water was not soft any longer and the salt level wasn't going down. The system was on and sounded like it was running, but its not working right. I had a service technician come out. For $109 he looked at it and said it was a bad switch. He replaced both switches and also some seals. Then he charged $69 for a chemical he put in it to clean out the tank. Fine. The system still isn't working. After several unanswered messages, my friend called the dealer on a different phone and they answered right away. Finally the technician called me (4 days after the original call) and came back out. He replaced the switches...AGAIN! When I asked why he stated they could've been defective. Then he said maybe it was my salt. He refused to empty the tank, said he wasn't allowed to do that because it would take 2 hours. Therefore, I did that myself. I cleaned everything out, put more salt in, but only half filled the tank and started a cycle. The tank filled with water, but it doesn't drain back out. Is that normal? My salt still isn't going down and my water isn't soft. I know Im just a female and a single mother of triplets. I consider myself to be intelligent, Im a nurse practioner. But I can't seem to find anyone to tell me what's wrong or fix the problem. Im seriously considering renting a system from mulligan. I've paid thousands of dollars for this system and over $500 in repairs since last December. Does anyone have any clue what I should do? Thanks, sherry

I could not find this specific model on-line.
There should be about 10"-12" of water in the brine/salt tank. If the unit is not drawing brine out during regeneration this indicates either the eductor assembly is plugged or the refill piston is bad. Either of these will cause excess water in the salt tank and the water to not be drawn from brine tank. Also if this is a metered control that cycles according to gallons the settings may not be set at the proper gallons, this will cause the softener to run out of capacity and the water may never be totally soft. Your softener appears to be a .75 cu ft system. Depending on the water chemistry and usage of 4 people this system may be to small for your families needs.
All this is basic service 101, so its a shame the service tech could not diagnose the problem and proper solution. There generally is a 30 day warranty on any service call.
I would try contacting the Manager of the Rainsoft dealer to get the situation rectified and ask for a different service tech.
