Why are Americans so afraid of socialism?

Many blame the loss of the "good jobs" in manufacturing on unions,
forgetting that before the labor movement there were no "good jobs" in manufacturing,
only wage slavery and a 80-hour workweek.
"wage slavery" is an oxymoronic contradiction-in-terms.

Well, since we're calling each other's phases names now, "oxymoronic contradiction-in-terms" is redundant. (Na na...)

You should be glad you have the union behind you or jespah and Robert could lay you off for being redundant. Wink

I repeatedly assert that redundancy is +additionally+ supplementally emfatic!

Wage slavery is an "oxymoronic contradiction in terms" (what a clown!) says David, who, if he has not been lying to us, never worked for a wage in his life.

@Setanta,
Whether or not "wage slavery" is an oxymoronic contradiction-in-terms
is not affected by my personal history.

Well, Jesus said that if u do not have a sword,
then u shud sell your coat if necessary to raise funds to buy a sword. Luke 22:36

That extrapolates in modern times to buying a .44 caliber revolver
(ideally loaded with hollowpointed slugs).

I posted this because it may jar the senses of the capitalism has to prevail crowd. I have not been following the thread at all. My feeling is, the best system has to be well regulated in best interests of the people as a whole. To me it seems elements of both socialism and capitalism would be incorporated in the most workable scenario. But either would work if regulated as I specified just now, I suspect.

David

Then in Luke 22:38 he says it isn't necessary to go buy a sword after all.

I must AGREE that it is not necessary;
u just suffer the consequences of failure
to take that advice and PERISH in the discretion
of human or non-human predators, Parados.

I did express myself. If you want to be obtuse, though, no one is going to force you to stop.

@OmSigDAVID,
That's funny David. You attempt to use religion to justify your opinion then completely abandon it so you can continue with your opinion.

no one is gonna force u to do it.

In this thread, I did not "completely abandon" anything.

I merely commented on Max 's religious remark. I am free to DO that.
I infer that u implied that I assumed a duty
to become a religious fanatic; not so.

It's "OK" with me if you want to persist in that idiocy. I suspect you no longer even know that this is about.
