Is this the beginning of the end of Rupert Murdoch's media empire?

Here, Bubba, i'll make it simple for you. Which are the two major parties in England, and why do you dismiss the one in the list of three i gave you as not being a major party? That you should be a simple enough question for someone so in the know as you like to portray yourself.

@hawkeye10,
Quote:
Given the make-up of the board it is for all practical purposes impossible for Murdoch to lose control of the empire, though their is speculation that he will publicly semi-retire and run it from behind the scenes.

You don't seem to know how a board is elected hawk.
Nor do you seem to understand that Murdoch owns less than 40% of NewsCorp.

Murdoch's buddies can easily be thrown off the board by the shareholders. They only need 50.0001% in the next board elections.

@djjd62,
There was a cabal of shareholders that protested the Murdoch steerage before this story broke,but they only represented about 1% of shares and there protest was mostly about Murdoch's 'nepotism over governance' ethic. At least they get to say 'I told you so'.

From the live-update ...Two senior figures in the Met - John Yates and Dick Fedorcio - are now effectively blaming each other for the decision to hire Neil Wallis. ....

@izzythepush,
You're flattering Wink

Rupert Murdoch's biographer, Michael Wolff, has suggested this afternoon that Rupert Murdoch could resign before the culture committee, the BBC are reporting.

@msolga,
Hey MzO - put 't kettle on (you oughta be asleep by now!) and I'll bring the biccies (tho I do feel slightly nauseated at this right now) - sitting watching it with you as will many folk in the UK I reckon. I have to admit - I am very uncomfortable watching Murdoch Sr. I'm not sure if I feel like I am covered in crawling bugs or what it is, but, it does make me very uncomfortable.

HAWKEYE!

I am British and I am part of the public - just a regular little nobody who is as angry like the rest of the nobodies about this.

The British public are absolutely upset about what is also happening within the system and the corruption at the highest levels. They're all a bunch of slimy bastards.

However, there is a lot that is out of our control - depsite being the voters! Tho we can do what we can to address these matters - usually, people power doesn't work too often when we shout on the streets, until election time - and even then, well, even that doesn't work as has been seen by the coalition last time round. You vote for a party - and who knew, they join together and lie through their back teeth about their policies and promises (promises said in the loosest possible terms!)

When a little girl goes missing, is found murdered... that is bad enough. The public, as with any missing child or murderered child, has intense sympathy/empathy for the parents, family and friends. Our Nation does grieve.

I do have an idea of what planet you live on from your postings over the years, but fortunately for me, I don't live in your world.

As a public, or as you would like to say, "our British Collective" - yes, I would imagine that a majority of the UK knows about what's going on - our news stations are covering everything. I don't read newspapers, so I would have no idea of that particular media format. I would also believe that a majority are disgusted with what happened in the Millie Dowler case. I also believe, Joe Public will have more interest in what is happening in this case because yes, it could be any of our children, it could be any of us who were given hope that their child was alive, when in fact she had been murdered and her voice mails deleted by hacks. When the news comes of celebs or politicians having problems, we usually know that they will have the funds to pay for lawyers etc - Joe Public doesn't. So this case, for Joe Public - is different.

That may not be the right way and perhaps we should have equal concern for every person who has been hacked - but in reality, that does not happen. I do believe that is why there is such a media spotlight on NI now.

@Izzie,
Hi Iz

12:40 am here & this looks like going on & on ....
I doubt I'll last the distance.

Seems neither James nor Rupert were aware of anything much at all of the important developments (which could be incriminating to them) at the time they happened. Neutral

I'm finding it rather excruciating watching, too.

Interesting question: "Are you aware of willful blindness?"

@msolga,
I've missed a bunch of this but having come back to it now, I wish MurdochSr would stop hitting the table. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

It's also frustrating to listen to them both saying how "their trust" has been violated by the wrongdoers...

grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

@Izzie,
So much they don't know, were not aware of ......
How can they not know the details of payments of Mulcair's & Clive Goodman's legal fees, the various pay-outs of others?

Gotta crash. Will catch up on the rest tomorrow.

Willful blindness is a legal term in the United States.The doctrine holds that if there is information you could have known and should have known, but somehow failed to know, then you may still be deemed responsible. It was cited by the judge in the trial of Enron executives.
