A man in the US state of Wisconsin wants to sue a cable television provider for making him addicted to watching TV, a news report said today.
Timothy Dumouchel claimed cable TV was also to blame for his wife's gaining more than 20 kilograms and his kids being "lazy channel surfers", according to the daily The Reporter.
Dumouchel told the paper he would settle the suit for $US5,000 ($6,505) dollars, or three computers and lifetime free internet service.
Dumouchel said he tried to cancel his cable service four years ago but the connection remained intact.

Hey! Watch what you say about Cheeseheads!
The Packers
are rather addicting, though...
Sadly the story is true.

This really got me though:
Quote:According to the report, Dumouchel told Charter employees he plans to sue because his cable connection remained intact four years after he tried to get it canceled.
The result was that he and his family got free cable from August of 1999 to Dec. 23, 2003.
"I believe that the reason I smoke and drink every day and my wife is overweight is because we watched TV every day for the last four years," Dumouchel stated in a written complaint against the company, included in a Fond du Lac police report.
"But the reason I am suing Charter is they did not let me make a decision as to what was best for myself and my family and (they have been) keeping cable (coming) into my home for four years after I asked them to turn it off."
According to the police report, Dumouchel called Charter to stop his cable service in August of 1999 and was taken off the billing but not the cable service.
Ummm. Yoohoo! Mr. Dumouchel... Ever hear of the "Off" switch???
What a piece of work... lmao
Cute story, but the Packers were never mentioned. So, considering he is from Wisconsin; it's only about a 99% chance that he is an actual Cheesehead.
Thankyou for the second time today Bill, that's just what I was looking for.
Hard statistics!
But seriously, when are you bloody sepo's gonna stop ruining the concept of justice?!? Are your judges just all stupid, or are your lawyers just that good?
Er, somehow I don't think even a 'Scansin judge is going to find in this guy's favor.
Unless he's a dairy farmer. Or his name is Favre. Those factors might change things.
(Seachickens would have taken the Pack out if they could catch the damn football...)
Ade. I think the word you were looking for was 'dickhead'.
(hey, folks from the down-under short-pants-and-sunburns brigade: we know what sepo means...)

Adrian, you are quite welcome for the second time today... And by the way... Ludicrous lawsuits are the singing canary in the mineshaft of freedom.
This is stupider than even those people suing fast food chains for 'trauma' after they spilt coffee upon themselves! I think that the idea that something bigger than you is responsible for all your misdemeanours and problems is both ridiculous and dependent. You have to be able to take care of yourself without immediately blaming others...
... Are there many people who go around, filing lawsuit after lawsuit, instead of going to work?

Took the words right out of my mouth. (or should that be right off my keyboard?)
Heard this on the news yesterday and had my laugh for the day.
Barry Alvarez was your coach??
<not worthy prostrations>
Are you talking about the same Barry Alvarez that coaches the Wisconsin Badgers?

Take that cheese off your head, Bill. It's causing you to double-post.
By the way, when you see Sozobe tell her to get her ice pack ready.
Tick...tick....tick
I think I can speak for her just this once. NO FEAR!
By the way, which one of your avatars is going to wear the cheese?
