@Gargamel,
Um, I grew up in and belong to a mixed racial family. My family has always followed the words of Dr. MLK. We judge people on the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

Anything else?

So Common clearly should sit out the portion of the poetry workshop in which the instructors lecture the children on racial identity. But he's well-qualified for the other 100%, wouldn't you agree?

But you did leave. And then she regaled us with stories about "Tiny" and his 3 second attempt.

Wasn't Eazy E invited to the White House by George Bush?

If you don't remember it's because there wasn't much comment.

So my question is: is Common less palatable to conservatives than Eazy E? Or is this a tempest in a thimble?

And why no fuss when Common hosted the Christmas tree lighting .?

@panzade,
Fox was too busy arguing that Obama hates Christmas to notice.

Ah, his is a sad story. No idea who he was, so I looked him up. Dead at the age of 31 from AIDS, and he left 7 children!

On topic -- I vote thimble.

Hmmm... certainly not the demographics the GOP was looking for.

@panzade,
Eazy, it was said, admired the elder Bush for his action on the Gulf war. I guess he must have said something about it, because it got him invited to lunch. I don't think he performed or anything.

His wasn't a typical story, I don't think. He grew up in a two-parent household...his dad worked and his mom was a school administrator. Even so, he dropped out of school in the 10th grade and pursued drug selling as a means to live. He eventually cleaned up his act and pursued the music career. Not sure how he contracted the HIV virus, but I don't this it was personal drug use. Such a tragic waste ... he died very soon (days) after learning he had the disease.

@Irishk,
That is sad. I'm glad he got a moment to shine at the White House. I guess we shouldn't judge our presidents by their guest list.

@panzade,
I don't think so, either. True, it's the 'people's house', but the president and his family live there and the type of entertainment they enjoy is their business.

@Gargamel,
"Racial identity". LOL. Sounds racist to me. Are certain people in the USA entitled to different treatment because of the color of their skin? Since when did integrity and manners become okay if your skin is a certain color?

@parados,
Now we can all see why you limit yourself to only a few words. Sound bites are your MO.

What I heard about you "Tiny" is that there wasn't even enough to nibble on. Even my mother was chuckling about that.
