What kind of collateral do you need when applying for artists' and writers' grants?

When Disney, Warner Bros. or some other big name Hollywood animation studio makes an animated film, they DO RESEARCH for it. They DON'T just throw some SCHLOCK together and call it a film.

Likewise, I want and need RESOURCES to help me flesh my ideas out with and help me to get my material developed.

I had a preliminary story I had copyrighted, and that's about it. I went to s school for animation and made some animations with my characters in them.

What are the best sources for fellowships, grants and funding for blacks and minorities who are cartoonists, artists and writers?
