@George,
Thank you, George. Your explanation indeed helps me a lot.
But I am still a little bit confused about the last line of the poem. Maybe I should check more backgroud info about the poem.
You're great. Thank you for helping me!

@JTT,
I thought you meant at the top of the tower that is part of the Palazzo Vecchio. (Previously know as Palazzo di Signoria)

@jeremykong,
Let this unworthy flesh His proxy stand
Well, a proxy is someone or something that acts as a substitute. The
speaker says that his body will stand as a substitute for a sign from God.
"This unworthy flesh" refers to his body, which he says is unworthy of
such an honor.

I hope you are enjoying Sherlock Holmes. I love those stories!

@George,
"The speaker says that his body will stand as a substitute for a sign from God."

I think I get the point now.
I'm a big fan of Sherlock...and Jeremy Brett as well.
Thank you, George.

Me too. Did you know he played Freddie and sang "On the Street Where You Live"
in the musical My Fair Lady?

@George,
Yeah. I didn't recognize him at first sight in that film. until I heard him pronounce "r" in that special way.
He died at 62, Sherlock retired at the same age
He was born to play the role of Sherlock
